The Chartered Economist® (Ch.E®) is the world's first graduate economics designation, introduced in 1996 by the American Academy of Financial Management® (AAFM®) USA. It bridges the gap between academic economics and professional practice, equipping holders to analyse economic issues, develop research reports and guide organisations through strategic decisions.
The designation is issued directly by AAFM® USA - the American Academy of Financial Management®. It is recognised in 151+ countries through more than 800 universities, colleges and approved training providers, and the top 500 global finance companies employ Ch.E® holders.
Any graduate (bachelor's degree or higher in any discipline) may enrol. Graduates in Economics, Finance, Management, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Administration, Banking, Agricultural Economics and related fields are particularly well suited. Postgraduate holders in Economics may also be eligible to pursue a specialist designation directly - speak to an advisor to confirm.
The programme is designed to be completed in approximately six months, though it is fully self-paced, allowing you to study according to your schedule. It consists of a single level with six modules, one examination, and project work. Learning is delivered through AAFM® India's examination network and AAFM's USA-ACER user-friendly e-learning platform. Candidates can study anytime, anywhere, at their own pace. The examination is conducted throughout the year at Pearson VUE centres.
Registration for Indian residents is Rs. 40,000 + GST. For candidates based outside India, the fee is USD 1,000. The examination fee is Rs. 5,000 + GST (payable separately when you schedule at Pearson VUE). Specialist designation exams carry an additional fee of Rs. 15,000 + GST.
After earning the Ch.E®, you can pursue one of seven specialist tracks: Chartered Financial Economist (Ch.FE®), Chartered Managerial Economist (Ch.ME®), Chartered Energy Economist (Ch.EE®), Chartered Health Economist (Ch.HE®), Chartered Petroleum Economist (Ch.PE®), Chartered Industrial Economist (Ch.IE®), and Chartered Economic Policy Analyst (CEPA®).
